Usually seen hanging around Harada, Nagakura, and Inoue; from the the four he is probably the most normal. It appears to be that he had a rivalry with Okita in their teenage years.
Out of all the members in the Shinsen, the one person he looks most up to is Yamanami. Because Toudou was very close to Yamanami, he did not take it too well when he heard of his mentor's death. And for a short while, he was at odds with Hijikata because of this.
Toudou is somewhat innocent, but very kind and friendly. I cannot help but feel that he and Sei are rather similar, although Sei is much more outspoken.
